The Bennett Family

It is such a honor to be able to photography families in the Treasure Valley. I love to play and get to know people and am always pleased that people trust me with capturing that special time in their lives.

So when a fellow photographer called and asked me to photographer HER family, I felt even more honored….but a little scared. EEK.

Imagine my surprise when I was given free reign. Mom told me I could pick the spot, do anything I wanted with the kids, pose – EVERYTHING. She was so relaxed and easy going about the entire shoot.

Thank you, Bennetts. For trusting me with these photos and for letting me get to know your family. And thank you for being willing to shoot on someone special’s birthday. I know that my schedule was tight and I appreciate your willingness to meet me on a special day!

And speaking of special….I was privileged to take a few snaps of grandma and grandpa who were visiting from out of state. So fun!!!

PS – I am secretly hoping that one of my son’s and their oldest daughter will go out some day….isn’t she GORGEOUS? And she has more talent in her little finger than I could ever wish for!!!

Presenting the darling Miss Emma {Eagle, ID newborn photography}

Emma’s mommy and I have known each other for over six years. I was the camp director for our ward’s young women and Ashley was one of my assistants. You would have though that this sixteen year old had run a major company in her youth. She was so incredibly organized. We made a great team, because between the two of us we had single handedly made more lists than was ever known to man. Truth be told, I was just trying to keep up with her.

Ashley is all grown up and married now – and has a beautiful baby girl. Emma is the first grand daughter on Ashley’s side of the family. I have a sneaky suspicion that this child is going to be a tad on the spoiled side. And who would not spoil this darling little girl.

Emma was a dream to work with. She took short breaks for little snacks and then was right back in the “saddle” ready to continue shooting. What a darling little thing. Daddy was also great to work with. He was so good with her – you would have thought that this was his sixth child, not his first.

Congratulations on your new little angel. Enjoy your sneak peak.

a few more…

Just had to share a few more from this amazing family.

Miss Christa {Eagle, Id newborn photographer}

Christa’s mommy called and scheduled her newborn appointment a couple of months ago and I have been looking forward the to the call that she was in labor ever since.  I was so excited when mom emailed me that she was being induced last week.

Our first go at her newborn photos was not as successful as we would have liked.  Most newborns are sleepy and curl up into the most adorable balls of sweet smelling yummy goodness.  Christa is her own woman and decided that she would like to remain awake for the entire three and a half hours that we shot.  Luckily, mom and dad decided that it would be okay to try again a few days later.
Christa went for her checkup this morning and the doctor said the most amazing thing…”For a week old baby, she sure is wide awake.”  Mom burst out laughing, thinking of our session, as did I when she told me the story.

This afternoon, in a warm room and with her tummy full, Christa decided that it was okay to go with the flow.  She snuggled and slept through two hours of us posing her, changing outfits, switching headbands and was an incredible model.  Christa’s mom was quite the child model, too, I hear.

It brought tears to my eyes as I uploaded these photos and realized how close this little angel was to her Heavenly Father just a week ago.  Babies bring such a special spirit into a home.  Thank you for trusting me with capturing these precious moments!

I can finally show these!

I have gotten to photograph some amazing families this fall.  Some I have shared.  Some have asked that I wait until after Christmas before I post any photos, as they would be using them for Christmas gifts.

It’s a new year and I am happy to share these with you.  This is just TOO fun!

Families are Forever

They bleed BLUE.

Boise State University’s football program has come a long way since I was growing up.  We were thrilled when they beat Oklahoma at the Fiesta Bowl a few years ago.  I am a sucker for the Cinderella Story teams and no one worked harder than this team to get there.

Boise State’s blue turf went in right as I was graduating from high school.  A lot of people made fun of the university and it got national coverage when geese started landing on the field thinking that it was a lake.  But the field stayed and now has become part of their trademark.

The Hurrens LOVE LOVE LOVE Boise State.  Mom wanted family pictures done.  Dad was tired of taking pictures every year.  SO, I asked him if he would do it if we could get on to the BSU football field.  He cheered right up.

A friend of mine has a few connections with the program and I was able to hit him for the name of someone who may let us get on the infamous field.  When I called the athletic department, I explained that this family was a HUGE fan of Bronco Football.  Then I begged.  And they gave us half an hour.

What followed was the biggest whirlwind photo shoot that I have ever done.  It was crazy.  Mom had some ideas, the kids had some others.  We got to have fun and play… with a representative of the BSU facilities people VERY close by.

Thanks Boise State.  We had an amazing time.  May the BCS finally figure out that Broncos deserve a chance to play with the big boys.

How can every family be my favorite family??? {Eagle, ID family photography}

Ok.  This is not funny.  Either we live in the greatest place on earth, or I have the most incredible friends on earth.  Either way, these guys were amazing.

Mom wanted to have some fun shots of her kids.  Dad went along for the ride…and even looked like he was having fun.  The twins are dream children.  I am kind of hoping that their daughter waits to get married and one of my boys snatch her up.  Honestly.  AMAZING, well mannered, patient, kind, respectful….I could go on all day.

We even went out to dinner together when the shoot was done.

Gorgeous family.  Gorgeous night. Gorgeous lighting.

The family that laughs together…

Oh my goodness.  If there was ever a bunch of outgoing people, this is the gang.  Gabe, Jenny, Clark, and Cody are the funnest, noisiest, craziest group that I have ever photographed.  I had to be careful what I teased them into doing because nothing was over the top.
Love love love these guys.  And if I ever wondered where they get their cheerfulness and positive attitude, I would find the source in their parents.  Thanks for letting me play!

Now this is how you color coordinate – Eagle, ID Photography

I have wanting to photograph this family for the longest time.  We go to church together and I will catch myself sitting somewhere behind them so that I can watch their children interact with each other.  They have the most gorgeous eyes and their quiet laughs are beautiful.  I was THRILLED when they volunteered to pose for my website.
Look closely at how mom put these outfits together.  No one MATCHES but they all coordinate.  Awesome job!  And no one is in boring white shirt with khaki pants.  Love it, love it, love it.
