The Bennett Family

It is such a honor to be able to photography families in the Treasure Valley. I love to play and get to know people and am always pleased that people trust me with capturing that special time in their lives.

So when a fellow photographer called and asked me to photographer HER family, I felt even more honored….but a little scared. EEK.

Imagine my surprise when I was given free reign. Mom told me I could pick the spot, do anything I wanted with the kids, pose – EVERYTHING. She was so relaxed and easy going about the entire shoot.

Thank you, Bennetts. For trusting me with these photos and for letting me get to know your family. And thank you for being willing to shoot on someone special’s birthday. I know that my schedule was tight and I appreciate your willingness to meet me on a special day!

And speaking of special….I was privileged to take a few snaps of grandma and grandpa who were visiting from out of state. So fun!!!

PS – I am secretly hoping that one of my son’s and their oldest daughter will go out some day….isn’t she GORGEOUS? And she has more talent in her little finger than I could ever wish for!!!

The Gorgeous Ms. Kaylie

What can I say about Kaylie? She is energetic, loves to play tennis, has a great sense of fashion, and is so comfortable in her skin, that she makes taking photographs of her such an easy job!

I was so excited to get these photos of Kaylie for her mom….when Kaylie leaves for college, mom will be left with a house full of boys and I know that she will treasure these. We had a fabulous time!

Enjoy your sneak peak!

Taylor

Taylor’s family lives in a part of the country where they do not do senior pictures like we do them here in the west. Fortunately for me, Taylor’s dad wanted him to have some senior photos done and asked if I would be interested in photographing him if he flew him out to Idaho. SURE – I said. But wouldn’t it be funner to do them where Taylor grew up?

A few months, and few emails and phone calls later, I got to spend the day with Taylor in his home town. We went to some of the most amazing places and I had an incredible time getting to know this young man. He is talented, genuine, a great friend, and just a little bit of a smart aleck – which means that we got along fabulously.

Thanks for the great memories, Taylor. Keep me posted on all of the amazing things that I know are in store for you!

North Carolina

Over Memorial Day weekend I had the privilege of going to North Carolina and playing with 17 of the most talented photographers in the country. It was a weekend filled with little sleep, much giggling, getting to know friends a bit better, and building some incredible relationships. I can honestly say that I could call any of these women in the middle of the night and they would come arunnin’.

We also photographed some incredibly beautiful people. Seniors, maternity, babies, children….they just kept coming and we just kept shooting. It was an incredible experience and one that I hope to duplicate some time in the next year.

Love you all!!!

Ashley

I had the absolute privileged of flying to Philadelphia and photographing Ashley and her family. They were so welcoming and I spent an incredible week getting to know them. We visited some of the most beautiful places on earth and often shot until the sun went down. Every day was full of new experiences and I enjoyed every single minute of my time there.

Getting to know Ashley was a complete treat. She is one of the most giving, patient, loving girls that I have met. She is a fantastic big sister and a wonderful child.

Enjoy your sneak peak, sweetheart. I had such an incredible time being around you. Your smile is infectious and your heart is made of gold. I wish you joy and happiness in your upcoming adventure.

Boise Idaho Engagement – Shea & McKay

It all started in choir. A beautiful girl was called in to play the piano for the high school choir that her brother was in. She was talented. She was enchanting. And there was a boy in that choir who had his eye on her. Their love story is a beautiful one and my sister and I got to play a small part in it.

Mr. McKay worked for my sister at Graples Home Decor while he was awaiting his mission call. It took a little longer than he had planned, so he was around long enough to have him become one of the family. At about the time that his call was to come in, he left work excited that it would come in the mail over the weekend. I laughed and told him that he didn’t even have to open the letter – he would be going to Argentina.

Imagine everyone’s surprise when he was called to the Argentina Bahia Blanca Mission – our family’s home town.

When McKay had been out for a few months, my sister, step-mom and I took a trip down to visit family. It have been over 25 years since we had been there and we were very excited. Ms. Shea found out that we were going down and asked if we could hand deliver a letter to McKay. We got permission to see him, drove a few hours to where he was living and had a wonderful lunch with him and his missionary district. And delivered her letter.

A year and a half later when McKay came home, his family asked if I would come over and take a family picture. I was thrilled to see him and his family. And it was so fun to meet this beautiful girl who had asked us to deliver her letter. She seemed to fit right in and it was clear that his family loved her.

Fast forward to April when I got to watch these two in action. Not too many people ask if they can bring a bicycle and a guitar to an engagement shoot -these two were just a hoot. I have honestly never laughed so hard while taking pictures. They had the funnest ideas, like running up a wall and then turning to the camera, singing to each other in the park, riding a tandem in downtown Boise, and sword fighting with sticks down by the river. TOO FUNNY!

If this photo shoot is any indication of what there life will be like, I am sure that they will conquer all with love, compassion, and a healthy sense of humor.

I can’t wait to see what their wedding is like!

I can finally show these!

I have gotten to photograph some amazing families this fall.  Some I have shared.  Some have asked that I wait until after Christmas before I post any photos, as they would be using them for Christmas gifts.

It’s a new year and I am happy to share these with you.  This is just TOO fun!
