Caitlin & Adam

When we had our pre-wedding consult, I STRONGLY encouraged Caitlin and Adam to consider doing a “First Look” shoot the night before their ceremony. This is something that I am pretty much going to insist on from now on. They said yes and I am SO SO SO glad that they did.

I drove down to the Bountiful Utah temple and we started shooting a couple hours before sunset. The bride and groom looked beautiful. Their faces glowed with joy and it was amazing to catch them as they glanced, lovingly at each other. I could not have asked for a more cooperative couple. Things went well and although we had some wind, we used it to our advantage.

Fast forward about 12 hours.

Imagine our surprise when we exited the temple after the ceremony and found that it was POURING rain. Not sprinkles, or a little storm. It was a huge downpour. IN THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST!!! The temple is located part way up the mountain and overlooks the valley. The clouds were so incredibly thick that we could not see past the grounds.

There is absolutely no way that we could have gotten these photos had we not done it the day before (or the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday…) They couple left for their honeymoon right after their luncheon. Tickets were bought and plans had been made. There are not too many opportunities to reshoot these things. I am glad that we planned ahead!

Enjoy your sneak peak, guys. I am overjoyed for you and your marriage. May the happiness that you feel today multiply over an eternity shared together.

(Did I mention that I am glad that we did a first look? And that I will strongly suggest that we do it in all future weddings?)

Brock & Emily

Weddings are hard.  I never know what to expect.  The peaceful, beautiful girl that I meet with during a consultation is not always the girl that shows up to the wedding.

The pre-wedding jitters, wondering if the flowers will arrive, hoping that everyone is where they need to be on time….there are a million things that a bride has to think about, and worry about.  And these little things can sometimes get to even the best of us.

But not Emily.

Emily was as cool as a cucumber.  (Does anyone know where that saying comes from???)  Emily had a wonderful time on her big day.

She rolled with the punches when the lights all went out at the hotel where she was getting ready.  And where the bridesmaids were getting ready.  And where two thirds of the guests were staying and were getting ready.  She just laughed.  There was NO POWER.  And Emily laughed.  Luckily, the backup generator came on and some of the rooms had a few plugs that worked.  But Emily did not seem a wee bit worried.

Emily knew something.  Yes, she knew that the most important part of her day wouldn’t be the flowers, or the dress, or the food, or (gasp) even the photographs.  Emily knew that the most important part of her day would take place when she and her sweetheart would be married for time and all eternity.

Good for her.  And good for Brock – who waited at the Logan temple for a whole hour while we scrambled to get there.

Good for both of them.

Because if they continue to have such a positive outlook on life, there will be nothing that they can not conquer.  Together.
